“BREATHE”
Baby, you don’t know, what you do to me but I got you too
And you don’t show, your emotions cuz’ they hurt you
But friend
Can’t live
Unless you take the risk
Can’t win
Unless you get on this
Breathe in breathe out
Won’t be
Till’ you set your soul free
Can’t be
Until you let yourself breathe
Breathe in breathe out
Day in day out
And you don’t know
I wrote this short interlude as a means of affirming myself and daring myself to take a chance. I would specifically use it in front of the audience before singing my song, “STA1RS 2 A1R” between 2018-2019 as my anxiety disorder was wreaking havoc in my life and I wanted to take my power back, even if it was one public performance at a time. I hope I encourage you to, in your own way, find some way of affirming yourself as well.
